ROBERT MOSES STATE PARK

Robert Moses State Park

Long Island's Fishing Capital

They call it a Park because there are some land-based attractions that are not on sand, but it really is a wonderful beach made by nature for pure fun and stress-busting diversions! The best part of the Robert Moses State Park, at least for New Yorkers, is that it is less than 50 miles from Manhattan, on the Robert Moses Causeway via the Southern State Parkway. You may have a sudden urge to fish and swim and be in the water in a jiffy, as though you suddenly wanted an ice-cream soda!

The Robert Moses State Park runs along the Ocean for about 5 lovely miles. There is so much to see and do that you can spend for ever and come as often as you like, without ever feeling as though as you have nearly had enough. Every time you think that the light is just perfect, the sky plays a trick and shows the water in an even-better hue! Every grain of sand seems white-washed and filtered to keep out over-sized rogues. The surf is not as predictable, and never gives up trying to dare you to take it on.

Fishing is an inevitable corollary of falling for the charms of the Robert Moses State Park of Long Island. There is a magnetic pull to standing in the water and casting a line in the water that teases with deceptive tugs on your rod. Just as you reluctantly decide to retire from the frustrations of failure as a surf fisher, the Ocean feels for you and tosses a catch that you can prize forever. What better way to re-enact the lives of unseen ancestors, than to bring a hard-won trophy to the family table, with a CD full of tales to regale your admirers?

The surf at the Robert Moses State Park is like the most popular person at the prom. You fantasize that he or she is born just for you, only to be jerked off for the sucker that you are! The bountiful aquatic life that the Robert Moses State Park nurses at its petticoat emboldens the teased to hire boats and undertake pelagic ventures with their tackle and box of goodie-traps. The scaly guys and gals who prowl the boardwalk under the Atlantic do not fall for the cheap and common. There are no short cuts to simply wooing them with seriousness and persistence. Fortunately, the boating experience is a reward in itself, and you can always claim to have allowed that conquered monster back in to the water! A couple of piers are available for the suits who do not want to get wet, but feel compelled to do some fishing because it is the done thing!

Golf is a nice way to embellish fishing and boating break at the Robert Moses State Park . The putting greens of the 18-hole course are highly spoken of in top circles, though they are way more difficult to negotiate than appears to hangers-on! The catering concession rests with the Long Island champion restaurateurs of the J&B Group, so sumptuous food and drink can assuage an off day with the Clubs!
