CAUMSETT RUNNING EVENT

Calling All Long Island Runners for the Caumsett Running Event

Running is a wonderful physical fitness activity to get involved in when looking to engage in a sport. There are so many reasons for individuals to become involved in running. For those who live in the Long Island area and engage in running, they are fortunate to live in an area where running is not only frequently engaged in but it is in an area where the scenery sets a perfect setting for runners to indulge in while taking part in this sport. There are many running events and marathons which take place in the Long Island area and one such event that all runners should try to get involved in is the 2006 USA Track and Field 50 Kilometer Road Championship Race in Caumsett Park.

General Information Regarding the Caumsett Run

The Caumsett Run is one which will be taking place on March 5, 2006 in Caumsett State Historic Park. Starting at 8:30 a.m. runners will take off on this wonderful 50k run through the beautiful park. Individuals who sign up to be involved in this race will run a 2.61-mile loop on a paved path. Throughout the race, participants will be able to indulge in wonderful views of the park and the Long Island Sound.

With regard to signing up, individuals can do so by mail or online. Registration will take place up to the day of the race and individuals will pay a fee for registration based upon the time frame in which they register for the race. Those participants who register through February 27, 2006 will need to submit a $30 registration fee and individuals who register February 28th through March 4th will need to pay $35. For those who wish to pay at the race will need to submit $40 in order to be able to participate in the run.

Prizes

The prizes which runners are able to win if they place certain spots within the race include a variety of cash prizes. There will be $1100 in cash prizes with $150, $75 and $50 being awarded to top three male and female winners as well as Masters finishers. Other awards will be handed out as well. It is important to note that in order to be eligible for any of the cash awards individuals must be USA Track and Field members.
