Ways to Welcome In the Fall on Long Island
Where to Begin… Since there are so many different activities that one can join in during this time of year in Long Island, it is hard to know where to begin. Perhaps the first thing you think of when fall comes to mind is Halloween. This will bring to mind jack-o-lanterns which brings us to our activity...picking pumpkins from a pumpkin patch. Now be advised that this does not mean running into someone’s yard and grabbing a pumpkin. On the contrary, pumpkin patches are places where individuals go to pick pumpkins and pay for their spoils. One such pumpkin patch in Long Island where parents can bring their children and/or adults can relive their childhood is Greenland Family Farms in Cutchogue. Another place where pumpkin picking is underway is Krupski’s Pumpkin Farms in Peconic. These are just a few of the many pumpkin patches that will be filled up with pumpkin pickers in the coming days.
These are just a few of the fun things which individuals and families alike can take part in during the fall on Long Island. However, there are plenty of other fun activities like pumpkin carving contests, hay rides, bake sales and the like that will certainly have you enjoying the fall on Long Island. A vacation in
Another fun picking activity that reminds us of fall is apple picking. There are apple farms where individuals can go to pick a wide variety of apples in various spots on Long Island. Fort Salonga Farm in Northport is one farm which joyfully welcomes apple pickers onto the property. Another hot apple picking spot is Seven Ponds Orchard in Water Mill. Oftentimes these farms will offer other types of fresh produce for sale and may even have a cup of hot apple cider waiting for the weary apple picker. The best thing to do prior to going apple picking at any of the establishments is to call ahead to see about their hours, procedures and any other activities or items they may offer for sale.
