Super Bowl Blues: Alternative Ideas for Game Day
For all those football "widows" out there, keep this in mind: it’s almost over! “Black Sunday” is approaching, and if you all out refuse to take part in the football festivities, there are other things you can do-- then frantically screaming “GO, GO, GO!” Game on! If a day of being glued to the television watching football makes you cry foul, time to plan ahead. Sure there are tons of Super Bowl parties going on, but why subject you to time-outs and tantrums? Gather up all the non-fans you know, and have a get-together all your own. Here are some ideas to enjoy the big game day:
FOOTball blues? Here’s something else you might want to consider: Love My Shoes (www.lovemyshoes.com) in Carle Place, (near the Roosevelt Field Mall) is really putting a new spin on the term FOOTball. For all the Super Bowl “widows”, they’re offering a great alternative: The Shoe-Per-Bowl! On Sunday, February 5th, from 6:30-11:00 pm, Love My Shoes will open their doors, and offer shoes (of course), food, wine, champagne, even foot masseuses. There will be a $10 entry fee that will go towards the One in Nine Breast Cancer Organization in Hewlett (www.hewletthouse.org/mission_statement.htm) Also, between 6:30-11:00 pm. 15% of each purchase at lovemyshoes.com will also be donated to the breast cancer foundation. If all else fails and you’re stuck with a house full of rowdy game watchers, just be sure to sit yourself right in front of the nachos. Then sit back and at least enjoy the commercials. Look on the bright side—it’s over! That special someone you sadly lost to the TV all season, will (about 11:00 or so) soon turn to you and say: “Honey, is that you?” And when he promises to take you out to that fancy restaurant you’ve been dying to go, you can respond: “Great. I’ve got the perfect shoes!” Janene Mascarella
