Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2007 Collection at Bryant Park
Designers such as Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Nanette Lepore, Tommy Hilfiger, Phillip Lim and my favorite Carmen Marc Valvo displayed structured silhouettes reminiscent of the 1950-1960’s. If people are going to be paying so much for garments they want something extraordinary and sophisticated.
The move to more structured and defined silhouettes is a simple and classic illustration of how the fashion pendulum swings back and forth. Designers are now moving away from the artistic creative bohemian approach to fashion and are creating beautiful structured wearable designs that real women want to wear. On February 9th Carmen Marc Valvo presented his spectacular as always Fall 2007 collection at Bryant Park. Dressed in an ensemble of porcupine fur designed by Count Vlad of Vladicouture I interviewed Carmen Backstage. Carmen revealed the sleek aesthetic of mid-century modern design was his source of inspiration for Fall 2007 Collection. Intrigued by the clean craftsmanship and sculptural forms of that era’s most dynamic interior and furniture designers, Carmen presented his collections that revered the past while embracing the future.

These wonderful trust fund fashionistas like Tinsley Mortimer, Lauren Dupont and Tara Rockefeller were in full force enjoying the shows at Bryant Park. America’s leading designers unveiled suits, dresses and coats with more defined shapes and tailored cuts for fall 2007.
