Things to See and Do at the Heckscher Museum of Art The Heckscher Museum of Art is known for its American and European collections yet it offers so much more. Along with the permanent collections which the Heckscher Museum of Art shows, it also acts as host to a number of exhibits which find their way to this great art museum. The art museum holds exhibits which portray both world renowned and more modest artists whose works include a variety of different items such as paintings, photographs and sculptures, just to name a few. The Heckscher Museum of Art also has a number of programs which are held throughout the year and cater to individuals of all ages. Some of the adult programs that were held in the past were book groups and educator workshops. With regard to the little ones, the Heckscher Museum of Art also has programs which cater exclusively to the younger individuals such as hands-on art activities and concerts. General Information The admission prices for the art museum are extremely reasonable at $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for senior citizens and students and $1.00 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. For those lucky ones who are members or under the age of 5, their admission is free. The Heckscher Museum of Art also has reasonable hours which are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The museum is closed for business on Mondays and some select holidays. The Heckscher Museum of Art is a wonderful place on Long Island to spend the day surrounded by numerous masterpieces.
