The Best Pizza Places for the Kids on Long Island
Old World Flavor For the ultimate pizza experience, that’s bound to knock the socks off your kids, you should check out Emilio’s Restaurant and Pizza in Commack NY. Along with a full Italian menu, they serve up a slice a cut above the rest. And the kids even love some of the familiar names of their specialties. (They feature on their menu both a Grandma and Grandpa pie!) Think your little pizza-lovers won’t know the difference between a good slice and a great slice? Think again. They won’t soon forget the “grandma pie” they ate last week, and ask for it by name, over and over and over again. For adventurous kids, there are all kinds of toppings to choose from. For your finicky eater, the plain Sicilian slice is sure to please. It's great for toddlers too. Their Sicilian slices are just soft enough for children who buding new teeth. And if your older kid wouldn’t eat a salad if you paid him (and I bet you tried), then Emilio’s “salad slice” just might do the trick. Just a warning: take-out during the dinner rush feels more like a scene on the floor of The New York Stock Exchange than a pizza joint. There is a dining room that’s kid-friendly, but it too is always pretty busy. To keep the craziness at bay, try going for lunch, or an hour before dinner time rush. New World Charm Another great place to put down some pizza with the kids is Chuck E. Cheese. I know, I know, the pizza is less than stellar, but kids of all ages love it. There are many locations on Long Island: Commack, Patchogue, Hempstead, and Hicksville. Even toddlers who are known to turn their nose up to whatever is on the plate seem to love the pizza at Chuck E. Cheese. Maybe its soft crust, or the gobs of mozzarella that makes it all the rage. As puzzling as it seems, I have witnessed time and again scores of children all devouring the slices as if my grandma from Palermo was in the kitchen tossing dough in the air. Um, she isn’t. The draw here must be the kid-crazy, arcade ambiance. Chuck E. Cheese is a place where kids get giddy the moment you open the door and hear the hullabaloo. There’s video games, a playground, costume character shows, and yes, PIZZA…truly your kid’s dream restaurant. Everything tastes great when your giddy and have a bucket of tokens. So, it may not be the best slice of pizza on Long Island, but it sure comes close after you get a glimpse of your child’s face beaming with excitement. So when it comes to kids—pizza is always sure to be a winner. If you’re looking for a pizza pie that will wow your kids, Emilio’s is worth the wait. But remember: Some play-time pizza at Chuck E. Cheese just may score you some extra kid points. Redeemable at bed time. Janene Mascarella

Kids and pizza, well they just go together. Like rama-lam-lama. Like peanut butter and jelly, like Bat Man and Robin, like Spiderman and….Hey, Spiderman needs a side-kick! The point is, when it comes to pizza, build a great tasting pie… and the kids will come.
