Long Island Malls… The Inside Scoop on What’s New
 Maybe it’s raining for the third day in a row and you need to get out of the house… Or, maybe it’s a beautiful sunny day but you and your kids are just bored of the pool and beach scene and need a little retail therapy…
Whatever the case, thanks to Irene Neofotistos Taub, whose PR agency, Ryan & Ryan, handles public relations for area Simon Malls, I just received the inside scoop on new store openings and events.
Rain or shine, get your credit cards (or maybe even cash!!??) ready… Here are some new stores, restaurants and upcoming events. All at a Simon mall near you…
Smith Haven Mall

Lake Grove
- Shop: New stores opening this summer:
- Bare Escentuals - beauty/ make-up retailer
- Reuhl - an Abercrombie & Fitch offshoot with casual men’s and women’s
apparel
- Metropark - Men’s and women’s apparel
- Select Comfort - Mattresses
- Hallmark Cards & Gift Shop
- Clark’s - Men’s and women’s shoes
- Eat: Bobby’s Burger Palace - Opened on July 15 in the old “Ben’s Deli” in the
Food Court Wing of the mall. Bobby’s is an “upscale burger chain” from
celebrity-chef Bobby Flay. It’s one of the first to open in the U.S. and the
word on the restaurant-scene is that it is not to be missed!
- Family/ Kids Stuff: Kids 3-8 should check out “Kidgits”; a $5 annual membership fee entitles them to prizes and entrance to special mall events.
- August 16 - Kidgits Hawaiian Luau
- August 21-24 - Woodwill Craft Show

- Aerie - Casual undergarments; an American Eagle offshoot
