Long
Island has between 350-400 schools both large and small where you can study martial
arts. Just look in your local yellow pages and it can get confusing where you
should start. The cost of taking lessons is one criteria that should be
considered. Don't be easily fooled by "teaser rates". Ask direct questions
about how much lessons will cost monthly after the initial trial period. I advise
you to ask if there are contracts or yearly commitments. In my school we have
no contracts or long term commitment. Young student or for that matter any new
student could change their mind after finding out that it takes hard work and
discipline to reach a goal.
Another consideration should be how close
or far away the training facility is from your home. Young students depend on
their parents to drive them to and from lessons. Again most towns on Long Island
have a few schools to choose from. I advise you to take a FREE trial class in
at least three schools to compare pros and cons to your consideration. Most schools
will be glad to offer a tour and oblige with a free group or private lesson.
The most Important criteria in my opinion is the Instructor teaching . Find
a school that has certified and experienced Instructor Staff. In my school we
integrate excellent martial arts training with superior intra personal skills
to reach and motivate our students. An Instructor who reaches a student can and
will make a lifelong positive impression on that student. Today's Words
