The Long Island area is known for its vast array of art and cultural organizations. For this reason, some governmental and tourist organizations have collaborated this year to bring about a month long arts festival called ArtsWave. The groups which have brought this into existence include the Department of Economic Development and Workforce Housing, Office of Film and Cultural Affairs and the Long Island Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. The reason for doing so is to provide an artistic outlet and performances for residents and tourists alike. The groups realize the importance of the arts and have done something about it for the good of the people in the Long Island area.
