SUFFOLK COUNTY HALF MARATHON

Join the Fun at the Suffolk County Half Marathon and 5K

For beginner and advanced runners alike, the Suffolk County Half Marathon and 5K provides the perfect race for individuals to join in. In March, the Suffolk County Half Marathon and 5K is going to be held where runners can join in to run for fun and also compete for various prizes which will be offered. The following paragraphs will highlight some of the general information regarding the run.

Location and Cost

The Suffolk County Half Marathon and 5K will be taking place on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 9:00 am on the Suffolk County Community College Ammerman Campus in Selden, New York. The race will consist of both a half marathon and 5K race. The registration fees for entering into the Suffolk County race are $17.00 prior to the race date and $22.00 for those who register on the day of the race. The revenues which are collected for the race will be used to benefit various charities and funds including the Suffolk County Community College Scholarship Fund, the AHEPA Scholarship Fund and the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition.

Prizes

For those who enter the half marathon race, they are able to compete for the grand prize which is a travel package to Greece. This travel package is awarded to the first place female runner and the first place male runner. Those who win this prize package will be able to take the trip to Greece to attend the Athens Marathon. For those first place runners in both the male and female category of the 5K, cash prizes will be awarded. There will also be plaques and additional prizes and promotional gifts available to some of the other runners that participate in the day’s event.

Entering the Suffolk County Half Marathon or 5K race has many benefits for the individual runner. Not only will the runner be able to be involved in a good race for a good cause but they will be able to have an enjoyable time while joining in with others who have like interests.
