Dianne Martin, a part-time resident of Southold, produces her monotypes in her Long Island City studio.  Her work begins with an oil monotype on paper, which she develops further using materials from nature.    These could be twigs, weeds or feathers gathered from the street or from the beaches and fields of the North Fork.

The artists states “I am looking for that initial image to grow into a compelling visual world that bridges reality and imagination.  Birds are often inhabitants, but not as particular species.  Birds bring life, grace and, at times, conflict to this visual world.”

Ms. Martin’s work has been exhibited in commercial galleries, alternative spaces and artist-run galleries in New York City as well as the North Fork.  She most recently participated in the “Winners Show” at the East End Arts gallery in Riverhead as a Best in Show winner from 2011.  She received a BFA in painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and an MA in painting from the University of Iowa.  She is represented in many corporate and private collections, including those of Pfizer, Pepsico, David Rockefeller Jr. and Credit Suisse First Boston.

Art Gallery Committee members Lulie Morrisey and Christy Murray are Co-Chairs of this show.

The exhibit will be on display from Friday, February 1 to Tuesday, February 27.

Hello, My name is Debbie and I am the Head Teacher at Tender Shepherd Nursery School.  We are located in the United Methodist Church next to the East Meadow Post Office and Pietro's.    Our school is a Non-Profit school which means we raise all the money for our school and children.  All money raised goes directly to help improve our children's learning experience while attending our school.  I am very proud to belong to this school and have a wonderful Director Christine Mooney guiding our school.  This year we have decided to have an ongoing fundraiser starting February 20th. Spring is in the air and what better time to start shopping.  We have chosen Avon to host our fundraiser where there are great sale items, skin care beauty bundles, and our famous Skin So Soft.  All profits for the fundraiser will benefit the school allowing us to buy supplies for the classroom and host different learning experiences for the children.

There are a few ways to contact me which will be listed below.  If you are interested in making a difference in a child's learning experience with a purchase from AVON please contact me today.  There is no tax on your purchase because we are non profit. You may view my website but must place an ordr through my email or by phone in order for it to count towards the fundraiser.  Thank you for your time! :) Mention TENDER when placing your order.

Ni Nan Healing Art center in Merrick presents:

Bodhi Meditation session every  Saturday morning. Bodhi Meditation is a form of energy healing. Bodhi Meditation is unique in the following ways:

1). It channels universal energy rather than working with what’s within one person. It transcends the genetic and physical limits of just one being by relying and drawing energy from the entire universe.

2). The entire human body is the receiver of this energy. The energy’s effects on the body do not rely on certain meridian paths or pressure points of the body, which are the common requirements for many types of the Qi Gong practices.

Cost $20

Space is limited to 7 people. (Please call in advance)

Meditation Schedule:
Saturday: 10:00 - 11:00AM
Saturday: 3:00 - 4:00PM

The emphasis is on comedy in this musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale. A delightful group of characters are assembled, that young audiences will find as enchanting as the magic in the story itself. There's Chester the Jester, Typsy the Gypsy and the Royal Magician who is so inept he transforms himself into a frog. And there's the evil Thornberry, who puts the curse on Princess Elaine (the "sleeping beauty") and the brave Prince Dauntless who battles the fire-breathing dragon to break the magic spell.

Pinkalicious at the John W. Engeman Theater February 2 – March 10, 2013

(Northport, NY) – The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport is proud to present PINKALICIOUS, part of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Youth Theater Series.

Pinkalicious can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe – a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.
