Known exclusively as a sport for the rich and famous, Polo requires more than the affectionate whims of zillonnaires. The affluent sport of Polo requires intellectual strategy, incredible talent and real courage. The sport’s greatest athletes all competed for one of polo’s most treasured prizes. Each year the event promises a high-profile audience of influential celebrities, media and V.I.P.’s.

Partners include: JetOne Jets, alice + olivia, The St. Regis, Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches, the Trump Organization and Hamptons magazine. Season partners include: Ocean Independence Charter Yachts, 88 Greenwich, T-Mobile, Ralph Lauren, BluFish Concierge, Evian Spring Water, Amstel Light/Heineken and Zino Platinum Cigars.

Debra_MessingThis season’s event commenced on Saturday, July 21st and will continue for six consecutive Saturdays, ending August 25th. All proceeds from the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge are contributed to the South Fork Breast Health Coalition. The V.I.P. tent held a star studded cocktail reception this past Saturday afternoon during the highly anticipated tournament. Each week matches will take place from 4 p.m – 6 p.m.

President and co-founder Anthony Ottimo describes the sponsorship opportunity as, “JetOne Jets has aligned itself with this coveted event because we believe our company is in sync with the image and prestige it carries in the Hamptons, and recognize that private flying is really part of a certain type of lifestyle.” JetOne Jets mantra, “Ultimate Aviation,” pertains to everything they offer to their patrons – excellence in client relations, service, distinction, comfort, and luxury.

“We are thrilled that this year’s Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge will be held at the Jet One Jets field,” announces Neil Hirsch, President of the Bridgehampton Polo Club, “Their participation only heightens the exclusivity and luxury of the challenge experience.”

This years first day event was hosted by Actress Debra Messing and Reggie Jackson. Ms. Messing dressed in a white Hamptonite ensemble attended opening day with her three year old son Roman Walker as celebrities mingled in the crowd of onlookers. Ms. Messing almost did not make the much publicized event. The actress was stuck in heavy traffic on her way to Bridgehampton. Fortunately she got there in the nick of time. Debra revealed that she is currently working on a new film, the remake of the classic film “The Women.”

Other celebrities that attended first day Challenge were Samantha Cole, Katie Lee Joel, Denie Vasi, Aretha Franklin and Michelle Rodeiguez.

Another fabulous event was Cocktails by the Bay Miracle House Benefit. The event was supposed to be hosted by Academy Award nominee Actress Joan Allen to raise funds for Miracle House.. Unfortunately the actress was called away literally at the last minute to attend a press junket in Los Angeles to promote her upcoming movie “Born Ultimatum.”

The event was a wonderful sunset celebration to raise funds for Miracle House featured Stoli Elit open bar, auction, and live music with special guest performer Recording Artist Josh Kelly.

All proceeds support Miracle House’s mission of providing housing, meals, and advocacy to caregivers and patients coming to New York City for critical medical treatment.

Miracle_House_Gerry_Logue__I had the special opportunity of attending the event at the home of President Gerry Logue on the Board of Directors in Sag Harbor. Gerry spoke about how important Miracle House is to him, where proceeds go and how he became involved in Miracle House.

He revealed “It’s all about home and family. We started 17 years ago providing home, providing shelter, providing food for people coming to New York City with critical illnesses. We have been doing this for forty-eight states around the country and around the world. We service 1,000 clients a year but we have had to turn away 400 people because the demands are so high but by having events like this we can raise more money on the generosity of people here today and through their contributions so we may be able to buy more apartments.”

Gerry also revealed that he became involved by receiving a newsletter in the mail by Miracle House and decided to go to one of their breakfast meetings. After that he was hooked in becoming involved with their mission in helping critically ill patients and their caregivers. E.J. Camp celebrity photographer became involved in Miracle House after attending numerous events. She revealed, “Gerry Logue and I have been friends for twenty years and I always came to all the functions so I decided to become more involved because it is such a sensational cause.” Ms. Camp has photographed numerous celebrities and movie stars. Some of the famous images she has photographed are Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Michelle Pfeiffer and every famous movie star that has acted in a Hollywood film. Another famous individual I had a chance to chat with was Recording Artist Josh Kelly. Josh was made aware of the event by his manager, “After completing a European Tour in Germany and the UK my manager asked me to play at this event before going home and I said of course I would.” Josh also spoke about his engagement to actress Katherine Heigl from “Grey’s Anatomy.” Executive Director Jessie Ramos revealed he has been involved with Miracle House for 11 years and it is the adult equivalent of Ronald McDonald House.
