Secure, Convenient, and Trouble-Free
LIPA’s Online Payment Options
Uniondale, NY—February 15, 2005—The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) encourages its customers to make use of the various secure, convenient and trouble-free ways to pay their electric bills online. Through the “My Account” section of LIPA’s Web site, LIPA customers can check and pay their bill online, check past energy usage, or even enter a meter reading.
Through LIPA’s Web site, LIPA customers can choose from several options for bill payment. Customers can login to their account, and pay their bill each month without saving their information online. However, if a customer chooses to pay through LIPA’s Direct Pay option in which their bill is automatically paid each month, they can feel secure in knowing that customer information is encrypted and saved on secure servers. LIPA does not share any of that information.
“At LIPA we continue to take various steps to improve customer service,” said LIPA Chairman Richard M. Kessel “In January alone over 90,000 on-line transactions were made through LIPA or our customers’ banks web site”.

LIPA, a non-profit municipal electric utility, owns the retail electric system on Long Island and provides electric services to nearly 1.1 million customers in Nassau and Suffolk counties, and the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. LIPA does not own any on-island electric generation assets, and it does not provide natural gas service.
