So far my family has been denied housing twice, and we've only looked at two places. The first time was because we are an unmarried couple, the second time because we have children. Being denied housing for familial status is illegal.
I reported it to HUD. I'm posting this to see if it's happened to anyone else.

Hi Kylesa, welcome!
I'm sorry to hear about that and you are completely right.... It's not right to be denied for anything like that...
Just curious, did you go through a real estate or was that on your own?
Keep your chin up, you'll find something....
Having children and not being married is really something that society should be getting a bit used to.... It's becoming very common these days...

We went through a rental agent. We're also trying to find them ourselves, but we found better places, and more of them through MLS searches. It's just dissapointing that a landlord would deny my family and I housing without even doing a credit check, getting to know us, or even meeting us. And I wonder if it's happened to a lot of other people.
It's OK though, there are a lot of places to look and there's always new rentals. Someone will be cool.
