Okay, things have progressed at a VERY rapid rate and we will have our answer about moving to LI no later than tomorrow or Thursday of this week. Here are my questions:
1. My husband will be working in the Riverhead area - we are searching for a good, reasonably priced home within the vicinity of Stony Brook to Riverhead and in between.
2. Also, what areas have the best schools in that same vicinity.
3. Someone told us that it takes quite a while to get a closing on a house there - can you tell me how long "quite a while" is normally? We are getting pre-approved for a home before we leave for LI.
4. Also, I have two 11 yo children - boy and girl - is there a Boys and Girls club anywhere around those areas, or a "Y" or something of that nature that the children do after school?
5. Where can I find a map showing the actual cities located in LI? I mean, I have one at home in my atlas but I am at work right now and was trying to look for more homes.
6. Someone also told us it is more expensive to rent an apartment as opposed to buying a house there. We have two homes here that we own and have to sell before we can actually buy a home there - especially since the cost of a home there is double what we pay here for the same square footage. Does anyone know of any apartments that rent for a 6 month lease as opposed to longer in the above areas?
7. What is the general costs of licensing your vehicles? What about the cost for obtaining a LI NY driver's license?
