What's up everybody !!! , I'm a 27 year old male who currently lives in Eastern Connecticut . I'm in desperate need of some change in my life . I've been trying to find a re-location spot for some new environment , and am bringing up the idea of moving to central Long Island area.
I recently took a vacation to Long Island for a week and enjoyed it !
I was happy with all the new scenery & Flavor I found and it really is giving me a little more push! The best thing is if I made the move ... It's still just an hour ferry ride back to visit friends and family.
Any comments would be appreciated in the areas of :
Affordable towns , towns you would'nt recommend , cost of living , general ideas of your likes and dislikes , jobs availability , believe me MY EARS ARE OPEN ...
Hook me up with some info & thoughts...... Thanks alot !!! - Jeff

Hey what's up Jeff
Long Island is a great place and you really said it:

That's going to be the part for you....
If your looking for a house, you should prepare to take on atleast a $300,000 mortgage and if you need an apartment, I'd say your looking at anywhere from $900 to $1200 for something nice - apartment complexes will be a little more...
What do you do for work, or what do you llike to do or wish you did? Could be a good time to go after the "wish you did stuff" :jiggy:

Jeff,
CT. is beautiful..so are parts of Long Island, but this place is one of the most expensive places to live in the US.......we have the highest electrical rates in the US!!!!!!! Taxes on new homes are like paying another mortgage!!!!! Traffic is absurd, food prices are off the wall..............
If you are single, I would say that you had better have a salary of at least bringing home over $50,000.00 a year in order to enjoy your life, not just to go to work and pay bills.
I had a house in CT. for the summers on the beach many years ago, which was great...........I lived out of state for 6 years and coming back here 4 years ago was a shock to say the least.
A new house out here is over $400,000.00 in a nice neighborhood.......rents are off the wall...........people are getting over $1,000 for a basement apt.......apt. complexes are more....then there's no place to park.........personally I can't wait till I move back to Arizona.........where the state doesn't rip people off.
Good luck........

haha that is soo true.
I don't think long island like new people. They jacked up the price of the house so high so noone could afford it. People who lives here more than 10yrs bought their houses for like 100k and now they all expand their houses. 10 yrs ago there were alot of small houses...cottage, now those cottage tripple the size and 10 times the amount of the price.

I don't mean to be rude but how old are you? It seems you can't spell or write grammar correctly.......just wondering why?
Yes all is expensive on this island and can't wait till I get to move back to Arizona where the weather has 325 days of sunshine and it's a hell of a lot cheaper to live than on Long island.......
:cool1: haha that is soo true.

Well chief you can see from this message board long islanders are extrememly friendly and secure people who just love to talk. Seriously its a bunch of spoiled little cliques who beat off to each other. But if your cool and funny youll make friends but I do hope your have a well paying job if you want to live comfortably. Everyone thought it would become a bomb scare when grumman moved but that didnt happen. All the rich pricks moved here and started acting like all the poor pricks.
