If you havent heard of it already, there is a DO NOT CALL LIST available via the united states government to ward off the ever growing telemarketers.
If you would like to register your phone number you may visit:
National Do Not Call Registry
https://www.donotcall.gov/Register/Reg.aspx (https://www.donotcall.gov/Register/Reg.aspx)
You can register your Private Phone or Cell Phone
The ironic thing though is that to register your phone number on the do not call list, you must supply your email address with your electronic registration.
Pretty much unbelievable.... They give a reason as if it were to make it any better:

22. Why do you need my email address?
When you use the registry’s website to put a phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, we collect your email address to confirm your request. We will send you an email and you will need to click on the link in the email within 72 hours to finalize your registration.
23. Can I register online if I do not have an active email address?
No. The online registration process requires an active email address.

I really don't see what difference it makes whether they have your email address or not.... You can still register someone elses number without their knowledge while using your own email address.. Having your email address on file doesn't confirm that you are who you say you are and it does not proove that the phone number submitted is yours....
If they are really worried about who is submitting an entry they could just easily log your IP address which they probably do anyway....
They also claim to store your email address seperatly from your other information.... Alot of work for alot of nothing.....
