A friend drove me past a house that looks like a pirate cove in Miller Place. What is the story? Have there been any stories published about it?

hi i live in millper place i kind of know the pirate house story. the guy who lives there has a daughter i think in her 30's she was in a bad accident and was left with brain damage. he took her to disney for a vaca and she loved the pirates of the carrb ride, so for her he built this fantasy. its cost him well over $25g's he's been doin it for years now. the hood tried to get him to take all the stuff down but he was breakin no laws..you have to see it during christmas its awsome. i hope i shed some light on this for ya.

Just replying to the above, after seeing all sorts of weird stuff in Newsday's Part 2 last week sometime, decided to adventure around and check some stuff out, using lioddities.com as a starting point -
Checking out the intersection of NY Ave and Lower Rocky Pt Road by the blinking light (It's actually Sound Beach Ave instead of NY Ave at this point), there is a pretty bland house with a lot of stuff in the yard, mostly birdhouses, a wagon, etc. The "pirate house" is located at 9 Woodland Ave, back in Miller Place, as opposed to Sound Beach. Google Earth was good for this, that's for sure. I found this out by finding an article on the house, the guy who owns it is Dennis Connor, and he's in the google phonebook. Nothing too crazy, but, interesting I suppose.

Woodland Road, yeah, sorry. That's the one. Google Earth lets you zoom in and look around a lot more; regardless it's still not too indicative of all the stuff that's there. After finding that address on google earth from the phonebook listing of Connor, I noticed the driveway looked similar to a picture on lioddities.com, so I drove by, and sure enough, that's the house.

The owner of the house is really a piece of ****... he says he did it for his daughter but she lives in Hawaii, i think so she could get as far away as possible from him. I live close to this house and is just to spite his neighbors. But the thrill has worn off and the house look like a big pile of **** as if it didnt look like that when it was origionally erected!

OK all here is the story regarding the Pirate House in Miller Place. It was done by the father of a disabed young lady who was in a serious car accident and now has a brain injury. The father states he did it for her. The father states that he remembers how much his daughter loved disney world and wanted to do something special for her. Although a nice gesture I would hate to be the neighbor of the Pirate House.
The daughter states otherwise.
You decide.
Thats all folks.....
