Disney's prices for this roomstart at $1,443 (including 11% tax) and gp up from there, and discounts are few and far between. You can rent this room from me for less than half that.
Please check out these properties on Disney World's web site:
I can make reservations up to 11 months in advance. Please contact me if you're looking for a specific date or list of dates.
When is the best time to go?
If by best time, you mean least crowded, any time during the normal school year when there are no days off is going to be better than during school vacations or holidays. Among those, late September and mid to late January are probably the least crowded of the whole year. Unfortunately, the parks' hours are not as long during those times, but since you'll spend much less time waiting on line, you'll get to do more. And after the park closes you can take advantage of other activities such as Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.
How many people does the room sleep?
Official capacity is four adults plus one child under three in a portable crib (included with the room). Disney will not provide a rollaway.
However, Disney's unofficial policy is that they will allow an additional guest in the room, provided you supply your own sleeping accommodations (such as a sleeping bag or inflatable mattress) and your own extra towels.
Where is the resort located?
Old Key West is on Community Drive (east off Epcot Center Drive). It is part of the Downtown Disney resort area. It is built around the Lake Buena Vista golf course. There is a walking path (about 1 mile) from Old Key West to Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island, or, if you prefer, a boat.
Can you get other resorts or other room sizes?
I can possibly get rooms at other Disney World resorts, and other room sizes are also sometimes available.
What if I need something larger?
Glad you asked! I own a luxury rental home less than four miles from Disney's main gate. While it's obviously not on property, it is ideal for family reunions, large families, or multi-family vacations. It sleeps up to 12 and is much less expensive than a Grand Villa.
I can possibly get Disney properties in Vero Beach, Florida or Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Can you get holiday weeks (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years)?
Possibly. These times are tough to get and usually sell out several months in advance (New Years is especially difficult). However, if you can plan well ahead, email me and we can discuss your options.
Can you get me weekend nights?
Because of Disney's pricing policy for Disney Vacation Club members, I cannot get much of a (or any) discount on weekend nights. However, if you're planning to stay over a weekend night or nights (Friday and Saturday), I can book them for you for your convenience; this way you won't have to worry about switching rooms.
Do I have to attend a timeshare presentation?
No. I am already a timeshare owner; you would be staying as my guest. Besides, as a timeshare, Old Key West is completely sold out.
Is maid service available?
Since this is a timeshare, maid service for only one day (during a 5-day period) is included. Additional days may be arranged with the front desk at $25.00 per day.
What about room service?
Room service is not available at Old Key West, but food delivery from outside vendors can be arranged.
Is there tax on the room?
No. The price you pay. You will owe no other fees for the room itself.
When you arrive, the Disney Cast Member that checks you in will ask for a credit card imprint. This will be used if you make phone calls, if you have your room passes set up to allow charges, or use other resort services. However, if you don't use any of these services, your credit card will not be charged.
Is there a charge for parking?
No, parking is included for your entire stay throughout Walt Disney World.
How is Old Key West different from the other Disney resorts?
To be honest, it's not much different, except for the rooms being a little larger and including some kitchen facilities. I happen to think it's a bit more laid back than a lot of the other resorts (more of a resort atmosphere; most of the other "resorts" are more like hotels), and it is really beautiful. All the buildings are three stories tall.
How close is the parking lot to the room?
Unlike most other Disney resorts, the parking lots for the Old Key West buildings are very close to the rooms, generally within 25 feet of the buildings.
Do the buildings have elevators?
Only the few most recently built buildings have elevators. If you, or one of your guests, have a problem with stairs, I recommend requesting a first floor room, as the aforementioned buildings are very popular and cannot be guaranteed.
Can I check my reservation myself?
Yes. After I get a reservation for you, I will email you with your reservation number and a toll-free number at Disney you can call to confirm.
Can I change my reservation myself? No, Disney only allows the DVC member to make changes. However, I am available online or by phone every weekday (day and evening), and almost all weekend days. I will be happy to take care of any changes you need to make.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you contact me more than 31 days or more before your check-in date, your reservation can be changed, provided there is availability at another date of your choice. If it is 30 days or less before check-in, you may make a new reservation, but it cannot be made more than 60 days ahead of the new check-in date, so you may be somewhat limited by availability. It also may be limited regarding how far ahead of your original dates it can be, but in general you should have a few months. If cancellation is a concern, please let us know before booking so we can discuss it with you.
Your other option would be to find another buyer for the room using whatever method you like; then you can contact me and I will put the room in the new buyer's name, and send you a new confirmation.
Note: there may be certain circumstances where my cancellation policy may be somewhat restricted. I will inform you of this prior to booking.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept money orders, and usually, personal checks . Sorry, but due to rising expenses we cannot accept credit cards. Please do not send a personal check without asking us first. Unless special arrangements have been made, payment must be received within 7 days once your reservation is made, or 31 days or more prior to your check-in date, whichever comes first.
How can I contact you?
I will email you with my work, home and cell phone numbers if you need to contact me in the event of a problem (I haven't had any yet).
How can I get discounted park tickets?
As a special service for my guests, I can order tickets for you at a slight discount. This is for my guests only. Email me for details.
What do you need from me?
After you decide to purchase, I'll need to know:
Your preferred dates
Your full name (i.e. the name you want the room booked under), address and phone number.
Your smoking preference
Number of adults and children (with ages of children)
Any children's needs (bed rails or high chair) - room includes portable crib
Floor preference (1, 2, or 3)
View preference (golf course, water, woods, no preference)
Location preference (near bus stop, near pool, near hospitality - these may be combined). If you are planning on using Disney transportation frequently, requesting a room near hospitality is recommended as that is where the main bus stop is located. There are other stops located throughout the resort, but using them may require changing buses at the main stop.
Preferences cannot be guaranteed (although Disney generally does a very good job of matching people to their rooms), and should be listed in order of your priority. If you, or one of your guests, have a medical issue that requires a certain need (such as a first floor or non-smoking) please let me know and I will have it noted on the reservation. There are also some rooms that are ADA (American's with Disabilities Act) compliant, let me know if you need one of those.
What happens after the reservation is completed?
I will email or fax you a copy of Disney's confirmation, usually within two weeks. You may bring this with you when you check in. You'll also need a photo ID matching the name on the reservation. Note that the confirmation is not necessary for check-in, and if your check-in date is within two or so weeks of our completing the transaction, you may not receive it in time.
How can you sell rooms so much cheaper than Disney? I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club and therefore a Disney timeshare owner. I rent out rooms using the points that I am not using for personal use.
Please email me or call me for more details! I am here to help!
