I think it would be a nice place to move to, I'd love to hear from some people who do. Do you see a lot of stars there? Do they have a lot of community involvement? What about things for children and parents?

Long Island is a great Place to live, like all other places has its ups and downs but in general it is real nice,
There are wonderful places out east like Montauk point where the nite sky is just awesome.
There are many wonderful communitys as well!
I have lived here all my life and love it!

Long Island is a great place to live..... You have to make decent money to really be comfortable, but if you do, there is allot to enjoy here...
You really notice the best things when you leave or stay out of state for a while.... Things I like about Long Island is we really have great food here and no lack of it.... There is always a place to have a great meal right around the corner...
Another thing is transporation.... There is always a way to get around.... Living near trains, busses and taxi's all my life, there has been times where I have traveled and seen that there was no train or taxi's could take an hour to get to you... On Long Island, almost everything is in walking distance, but if for some reason something happens to your car, transportation is absolutely everywhere you go....
Another great thing is always being by the water.... You really can't go to far here without running into some type of lake or beach... I really don't know what it would be like to live somewhere without water around....
I also like being very close to New York City (Manhattan)... There you will see allot of famous people and there is lots' to do.... I like to be able to go once in a while, but then come home to the Island where it is a bit quiter... Nice to have a choice on that...
There are allot of great things about Long Island.. You have to live it for a while.....;)

I'm 8 miles from the NYC border. When I'm fishing down at the bay I can see the Empire State Building. Sadly, form there, I saw the WTC towers go down.
I live in Oceanside, but it's not quite on the ocean. There's a town in between. They must've named Oceanside during a might big tide.

That have must of been mind blowing --- I cannot imagine what it must of been like to have been right there in the streets......

It wasn't real to me. I was watching it as though it was a movie. There was no way I could believe it was actually happening. We lost a NYC fireman from our town. Many firemen from many towns in Long Island lost their lives.

Sometimes I think of how it seems so over.... Like it is just another part of US History.... I don't really feel that way.... It will never be over in my mind.. One thing is for sure, "we will never forget"...

I've never actually gone to the site. I had retired from the NYC Transit System two years before it happened. I have a shield that gets me into just about any site in NYC where Transit is involved. (We have stations under the site.) I just couldn't go.

I agree, everytime I think of the city, or someone even mentions it I REMEMBER, it was the sadest day of my life,
They say you will never forget where you were that day and its soo true,
I can rememeber me and the ex-wife were at my sons school, and all the people in the office started freakin out , we were like, omg whats going on and they told us, we went home and the babysitter watching our other three kids didnt even know, cause she was watchin nickoloden,
I will never forget that day.....................

Most people from around the world will never forget that day. I remember waking up and getting started for the day, it wasn't long after I got out of the shower it was just starting on the news....:(
