I hate the train!

It's actually a different interview for the one I told you about... One for a gig in Florida, I have to meet a guy from Boston in NYC. ;-)
I'm meeting him at a hotel on Church Street.
Zed - where are you looking to move to? I used to work in Hauppuage, I may be moving down south and will be looking to sell my house in Coram.
Where in Hauppauge will you be working?

Gonna be working on Adams Ave. for a little outfit called MTV Networks. I found an apartment in Patchogue I'm waiting for approval on...waiting for the employer-to-be to confirm the date of my first paycheck 'cause that's a factor that could affect my move-in date, which I'm planning for mid-May. My lease here ends May 31 and I don't want too much overlap but I do wanna hurry it a little, especially with gas about to hit $3 a gallon again (or has it already?). It's gonna be a compromise any way I do it.

MTV is on Adams Avenue? I don't recall seeing them there... Good luck with that, anyway!
As for my interview, it went really good, as far as I can tell. The guy I was talking with made all sorts of happy noises and said that they'd be in touch real soon.
The travel there sucked, though... On the 6:24 train from Ronkonkoma, then a taxi down to the financial district, then a taxi back with a cabbie who wasn't quite sure where Penn Station was, then the train back to Ronkonkoma. 6 hours worth of travelling for a 45 minute meeting. :p

Yeah, I was a little surprised myself. He asked me where it was and for a minute my mind went blank. Finally I told him it was underneath Madison Square Garden... :rotfl:

A cabbie who doesn't know where Penn Station is? That's like a deli that doesn't know how to make a reuben! And there used to be one in NJ. No surprise it's closed now.
You probably didn't recognize MTV because they're in a nondescript building with a sign that just has their address on it. I was kinda surprised by that too. Keeps away the riff-raff, I guess. The building is the operations center and all their network feeds (MTV, VH1, Nick, Spike, Comedy Central, etc.) originate from there.
Hope your interview works as well for you as mine did.

Is it the place with the big satellite pit? The former HBO place? Wait, I don't think that's on Adams...

Me too. But just in case... are they hiring IT people at MTV?

That's the one. It's on the north end of Adams just before New Highway.
MTV lists on Hotjobs.com...check 'em out and see what they've got.

Ah, ok. I know the place then!

I just checked them out... I thought a couple of jobs looked good, then I realized that they were all asking for broadcast technology experience, which I don't have. :-(
Oh well! Good luck with your new gig!

LOL... I've been working on that for quite some time, but I'm nowhere near where I'd have to be in order to make a living from web sites!
