Waterzooi Belgian Bistro is the only Belgian specialty restaurant in the Long Island area. It is situated in 850 Franklin Avenue, in Garden City.
The Waterzooi (it is the name of a Belgian dish) menu is typically traditional Belgian cuisine and the ambience is truly European. Even though the menu is region specific, it is loaded enough to satiate the tastes of virtually every gourmet buff visiting the bistro. Here are some the major victuals featuring in the menu.
The starters list include black pepper baby brie and tomates aux crevettes, and salads, which are served with original house vinaigrettes, some of them prepared with original Belgian beers. Mussel varieties and Waterzooi itself are the specialty of Waterzooi and hence are must-try dishes. Belgian mash, Brussels Sprouts and Frites are worth trying side dishes along with the main course.
The lounge menu, which includes dishes from both lunch and dinner menus, are available daily from 3.30 pm. The brunch menu with traditional Belgian victuals is served in the Sunday afternoon up to 3.30 pm.
On the drinks front, Waterzooi’s beer menu has almost all of the traditional and modern beer varieties. Also featured in the wine list are French Italian, and Australian imports, and those sought after ones from California. In order to make life easier for wine fans, who may be perplexed with the names of brands, pronunciations of all the names are provided alongside the name in the menu.
Apart from the usual routine, Waterzooi also conducts food festivals and specialty dinners. See the website for further details. Waterzooi has another outlet at 12 South Park Avenue, Rockville Centre.
