LONG ISLAND BUSINESSES STEP-UP BIG-TIME FOR
ALMOST HOME ANIMAL RESCUE
Long Island, NY, March 2009. . . Long Island businesses, from shore to shore, have thrown tremendous support behind Almost Home Animal Rescue, Inc., providing over 150 gifts in the form of certificates and prizes to the group’s upcoming Animal Well-Fair on Saturday, March 21th, 11:30am-4:30pm, at the Elk’s Lodge in Smithtown, NY.
Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on some during the Chinese Auction, and win some through raffle drawings. This year, the gifts and prizes from Long Island businesses include Mets tickets, 2 nights at The Ice Palace in Fire Island, overnight at Danford’s Inn, 4 VIP tickets to The Daily Show, tickets to Top-of-the-Rock, NYC, overnight at Oheka Castle, dozens of local restaurant gift certificates, tickets to Atlantis Marine World, to name but a few.
Almost Home is poised to increase this tremendous public support at this year’s event.
Why has Almost Home caught the interest of these businesses? Perhaps because of their unique approach to pet homelessness. In addition to rescuing and re-homing cats and dogs in dire need of new homes, the group spends much of its energy, time and funds on regular visits to families who want to care for their pets, but who do not have the financial ability to do so. Almost Home Animal Rescue, Inc. provides these families and their pets with food, shelter, and supplies on a monthly basis. And, Almost Home offers pet medical care, including spay and neuter services, FREE. The proceeds from Animal Well-Fair on March 21st will go towards Almost Home’s continued community outreach program.
Many millions of cats and dogs are abandoned and ultimately euthanized at U.S. shelters each year. A good number of these companion animals would NOT have to face this tragedy if their families were financially able to care for them. Almost Home Animal Rescue, Inc.’s unique approach to helping families and their animal friends to stay together, provides a service not only to the animals but also to the people who, if they could choose, would opt to keep their companions and take care of them until “the last beat of their hearts.”
