My heart and condolences go out to the family in Centereach, Long Island who were victims of the tradegedy last week where the husband, an NYPD Lieutenant, shot, stabbed and killed his wife and then himself in front of the couples daughter alledgedly following an argument related to their pending divorce.
I am also going through a divorce from an NYPD officer after more than 20 yr of marriage and several children due largely in part to his numerous on and off "the job" affairs.
The NYPD is in part, largely responsible for this tradgedy as they continue to fail miserably in the detection of emotional instabilities of their officers.
They are frequently aware of officers' personal stressful issues but often spend more time and resources covering up their immoral and often unlawful on the job behaviors.
The wives and the children are frequently left alone at home to suffer from the cruel and aggressive behavior that the department appears to encourage and support. As I was told by my husband during an argument "What are you going to do,call the police? I am the Police!"

How many children will be made orphans before you take responsibility for your officers?
