:boat: NET EMPLOYMENT FISHING:boat:
What is Net Employment Fishing (N.E.F.)? I remember as a small child in Greece, seeing the fishermen early in the morning making the proper preparations on their fishing nets. They would load them on board their brightly colored fishing boats and off they went towards the slow and bright rising sun. It was a beautiful work of art in progress. When the fishermen would come to their favorite fishing spot, they would take the net and hurl it over board. In the morning they would come back to the spot, raise the net and smile at all the bounty their hard work has brought them. The Greek gods were smiling down on them that day.
The concept of my Net Employment Fishing is similar. In “the good old days”, a person wishing employment would seek out a similar industry, similar company that he was working with, in the same location, a position requiring similar skill and that offered a similar salary. Some hoped for an increase of salary. This is what I call, Pole Employment Fishing. It worked better in the past but it has become more of a challenge in today’s job climate. Pole Employment Fishing works for the minority not the majority. Today’s job seeker must think outside the proverbial employment box, Net Employment Fishing. How does one go about doing that? As a Senior Job Ready Strategist, allow me to offer some suggestions. If they make sense, implement them, if not, don’t. Fair enough? Before I begin, let me reemphasize, if some of or all of my suggestions do not relate to you, be patient, be kind, they just might relate to others.

The possibility does exist that many of those seeking the same type of salary might just get it.
The possibility does exist in today’s job climate that many of those seeking employment similar to what they left, in all likelihood may be offered less of a salary than what they were making. In conclusion: There is a world of opportunity for those who see outside the proverbial employment box. This is the perfect time to be an employment visionary. Be hopeful of the opportunities but realistic of the outcome. Remember, where you are is where you are meant to be.
