(12/13/03) NORTH BAY SHORE - Police say 88-year-old Edna Schubert was discovered dead in her North Bay Shore home on Friday.
Saturday, cops searched for clues and closed off the section of Frederick Avenue where Schubert's home was located. According to police, Schubert was found badly beaten.
Neighbors say Schubert had lived in the home for more than three decades and was concerned with keeping the community safe. Even though Schubert was 88-years-old, neighbors say she was still active and could regularly be seen walking in the North Bay Shore neighborhood for exercise. They say her murder now has them questioning their safety.
Suffolk Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
