(01/17/04) HOLTSVILLE - A Ronkonkoma family is heartbroken as their son was killed in a car accident in Holtsville Friday night.
Authorities say the car 18-year-old Julio Campo Jr. was riding in crossed over the divider on County Road 83, just south of Long Island Avenue, and careened into an oncoming car. Julio and the others in his car, driver 19-year-old Michael Prestano of Medford, 18-year-old Michael Lagrasta also of Medford and 18-year-old Philip Doty of Patchogue were all ejected.
According to police reports, the contributing factors in the accident are believed to be from slippery roadways and unsafe speeds. While Julio's family is mourning his death and making funeral plans they pray that the other boys families will not have to feel the same grief.
The two teens traveling in the other car weren't seriously injured. Police say they don't plan of charging Prestano.
