SUPPORT: In addition to entry fees for the Pro-Am ($250 per team of two), the Women’s Doubles & Luncheon ($100 per person), the Men’s Doubles ($100 pp) and the Mixed Doubles ($100 pp), individuals, companies and organization can also support the event by becoming a sponsor or participating in the Souvenir Journal. DETAILS: More than 400 men and women are again expected to fill the courts at Shelter Rock Tennis Club for a full week, with teaching pros eligible to participate only in the Pro-Am and the Open Divisions of the Men’s & Mixed Doubles. The Pro-Am includes teams composed of one teaching pro and one amateur, while the Women’s Doubles will be contested at three playing levels and the Men’s & Mixed Doubles in three ability categories plus the Open Division.
ABOUT THE CHARITY: The Diabetes Research Institute was founded in 1971 by a small group of par-ents of children with diabetes who were committed to finding a cure for this devastating disease. Today, headquartered in Miami, FL, and with offices in Manhattan, Long Island and other areas of the country, the DRI is a world leader in cure-focused research. As a pioneer in islet transplantation for more than 30 years, the DRI has successfully reversed diabetes in patients involved in on-going clinical trials. As a result of groundbreaking work, a number of people are living insulin-free after receiving a transplant of these insulin-producing cells.
