Boston's Big Three against New Jersey's Great Eight had the look of a mismatch. Instead, the Celtics had to work hard to keep the injury-decimated Nets winless. Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce each scored 16 points, and Boston bounced back from its first loss of the season with an 86-76 victory Saturday night.

Josh Smith had a night to remember, especially after one he and the rest of the Atlanta Hawks would like to forget. Jamal Crawford scored 25 points, and Smith had 22 points, nine rebounds, six blocked shots and seven assists in the Hawks' 125-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

It really wasn't too long ago that Joakim Noah was a rookie clashing with teammates and coaches. Now, John Salmons calls him a "glue guy." Salmons scored 27 points, Noah added a career-high 21 points and had 16 rebounds, and the Chicago Bulls beat the Charlotte Bobcats 93-90 on Saturday night for their third straight win.

When a rookie praises a veteran, it might be self-serving. Brandon Jennings' description of Andrew Bogut was right on. Bogut scored a season-high 22 points and had eight rebounds to help the Milwaukee Bucks beat the New York Knicks 102-87 on Saturday night. "Bogut was on fire," said Jennings, drafted 10th overall in June.





Pistons F Prince out indefinitely (AP) The Pistons say forward Tayshaun Prince will be out of the lineup indefinitely due to a small rupture of a disc in his lower back. The team said Saturday that the injury was confirmed following an MRI exam and evaluation by team doctors this week. The Pistons say Prince will continue to receive treatment for the injury.


Nets F Douglas-Roberts has swine flu (AP)

Douglas-Roberts has been diagnosed with swine flu.  In a statement issued late Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009,   Nets President Rod Thorn said Douglas-Roberts "has been treated accordingly for the illness, and the Nets have followed all precautionary measures as mandated by NBA guidelines."

Chris Douglas-Roberts has tested positive for swine flu, another blow to a New Jersey Nets team that is losing players as quickly as games. Douglas-Roberts had started every game for the winless Nets until missing a loss at Philadelphia on Friday with flu-like symptoms. Bulls F Thomas has surgery on broken arm (AP) Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas had surgery on his left forearm Saturday, a day after he broke it during a weight-training session. Coach Vinny Del Negro says the operation went well and that Thomas will be re-evaluated Tuesday. Thomas is expected to miss four to six weeks, leaving the Bulls with just 10 healthy players.
