For Immediate Release

June 3rd, 2006 - New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement (NY I.C.E.) will rally in front of the New York Mexican Consulate at 27 East 39th Street (between Madison and Park Avenues) as part of the nation-wide “Hands Along the Border” protest against the illegal mass migration

This June 3rd demonstration is co-sponsored by the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and S.O.S. Borders. Numerous rallies across the country on the same day will also demonstrate against illegal immigration. Rallies will be held in front of the Mexican consulates in Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Denver, Orlando, Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, Detroit, St. Paul, Kansas City, Omaha, Albuquerque, Raleigh, Portland, Philadelphia, Dallas, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. There will also be a protest in front of the Mexican embassy in Washington, DC as well as protests in Atlanta, West Chester (OH), and Tulsa.

Newly formed tri-state group, NY I.C.E, is open to all Americans and legal immigrants who believe in enforcement-ONLY immigration legislation. We represent the diversity and rich culture of the tri-state area, and welcome Americans and legal immigrants of all races, religions, and political affiliations who are united in our common struggle to protect our borders through enforcement-ONLY legislation.

We strongly believe that the problem of illegal mass migration must be solved through the enforcement of immigration laws (like employer sanctions), NOT by rewarding lawbreakers. Therefore we endorse the enforcement-ONLY approach of H. R. 4437, recently passed by the House of Representatives, and oppose amnesty and guest-worker provisions in the corresponding Senate bill, S. 2611. These provisions can only lead to a disastrous repeat of the failed 1986 amnesty. In addition, we oppose the massive increase in legal immigration contained in S. 2611, which threatens to overwhelm an already strained immigration bureaucracy, and which would drive U.S. population to over a billion people by the year 2100.

NY I.C.E. is not the product of any special interest group or corporation. It is a spontaneous response, in the great tradition of American activism and free speech, to government by special interest. We oppose the Left’s self-serving encouragement of illegal immigration, which is predicated on the assumption that ethnic special interest groups will increase the Left’s own power. We also oppose the business special interests on the Right, who have been using President Bush as a puppet to achieve their long-term goal of opening America to cheap foreign labor. Bush’s spin-ographers want the people to believe in the false dichotomy of either mass deportation or legalizing mass importation. We believe there is another way: Attrition. We believe immigration policy should serve the interests of the American people as a whole, and that the best course right now is enforcement-ONLY.
