PGA TOURS’ TIM FINCHEM TO RECEIVE ‘DICK SCHAAP LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD’ NEW YORK, November 15, 2005 - - Tim Finchem, commissioner of the PGA Tour, will be presented with the 2005 Dick Schaap Lifetime Achievement in Sports Award at the Michael S. Modell Memorial Awards Dinner on Thursday evening, December 1, at the Grand Hyatt NY Hotel. The event, which is expected to attract 1,000 guests, benefits the Greater New York Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). The Dick Schaap Award is named for the well-respected and highly-admired sports reporter, TV personality, author, editor and long-time supporter of CCFA who passed away in 2001. It is given to someone who has reached the pinnacle of achievement in their sport - - while, at the same time, making significant contributions to their community, charities and opportunities within their chosen field. Also to be honored at the Dinner will be philanthropist Jan V. Vilcek, MD, a leading professor in the Department of Microbiology at the NYU School of Medicine, who will receive the Michael S. Modell Humanitarian of the Year Award; and Greg Aarons, a 23-year-old college student who has had a life-long battle against indeterminate colitis and numerous other auto-immune diseases, who is set to be recognized with the Profile in Courage Award.
