Dedicated Doctor Recognized By Good Samaritan Hospital

Long Island Press Releases

Timothy George, MD, was nominated by his patient’s mother

(West Islip, NY) Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s most recent winner for its Physician of the Quarter program, Timothy George, MD, was nominated by his patient’s mother, Mary Daly of West Islip.  When Dr. George discovered his patient, Danielle Daly had a high blood glucose level that could have been life-threatening, he monitored her very closely.

“Dr. George came by the hospital every morning, including his day off, to check on with my daughter.  His presence and advice put her and the rest of my family at ease during what could have been the worst hour of our lives,” said Mrs. Daly.  She feels his unselfishness was very admirable, and he is deserving of this recognition.  Dr. George was presented with a plaque as the winner of the hospital’s Physician of the Quarter program, while Danielle and Mary Daly, as nominators, received a check for $100.

Good Samaritan Hospital encourages current and former patients to nominate a doctor who embodies certain qualities for its Physician of the Quarter program.  The objective is to recognize compassionate physicians who have provided outstanding care to patients.

Throughout the year, the hospital recognizes physicians who have gone above and beyond to help a patient.  Good Sam is accepting letters of nominations (no longer than 300 words) from patients wishing to nominate their physicians.  Specific examples should be included of how the physician exceeds his or her normal duties.  In addition to the monetary award, the patient and doctor selected will have their story published in Good News From Good Sam and on the hospital’s website.  Letters should be typed or printed legibly and contain the nominating patient’s name, address and phone number.  Winners will be contacted by phone.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds), voluntary, not-for-profit hospital located in West Islip.  The medical center, which has more than 4,500 employees and almost 900 physicians on staff, had nearly 30,000 patient admissions and more than 95,000 emergency department visits in 2011.  Good Samaritan is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. Visit the website at www.good-samaritan-hospital.org.

Good Samaritan provided more than $43 million in community service and charity care in 2011.  The medical center supplies residents with the tools necessary to maintain good health.  This includes community lectures, screenings, health fairs and other community programs and services.
