Good Samaritan Hospital Hosts Community Outreach Program; Benefits Needy Families
(Long Island, N.Y.) Good Samaritan Hospital recently hosted a Healthy Sunday program at St. John of God parish in Central Islip. Healthy Sundays is a community outreach program sponsored by Catholic Health Services to promote health and wellness through educational information and health screenings for the underserved. Volunteer staff administered flu vaccines and provided cholesterol/glucose screenings to more than 100 participants. In addition, through the generous donations of Al’s Angels, 50 families received bins of food for Thanksgiving. Al’s Angels mission is providing moments of joy and comfort to families that are challenged by childhood cancer and financial hardship.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds), voluntary, not-for-profit hospital located in West Islip. The medical center, which has more than 4,500 employees and almost 900 physicians on staff, had nearly 30,000 patient admissions and more than 95,000 emergency department visits in 2011. Good Samaritan is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island.
