Hayground School 11th Anniversary Kick Off
30th Anniversary Screening of “JAWS” at Guild Hall

Q&A with Steven Spielberg & Roy Scheider,
moderated by David Koepp, Thursday, August 24th

Now celebrating its 11th Anniversary of educating East End youth, Hayground School will kick off its anniversary celebration with a special screening of the classic JAWS, celebrating the 30th year since its release.  Director Steven Spielberg, screenwriter David Koepp and star Roy Scheider will host the screening and participate in an audience Q & A for this offering from Guild Hall’s Red Carpet Film Series which features movies made by and with our neighbors.  The event takes place Thursday, August 24th.

There will be a VIP cocktail reception at 5:30 catered by Nick & Toni’s with the screening starting at 7:30 pm.  Q& A to follow.  Tickets for the VIP reception & screening are $500.  For the screening only $100.  All proceeds benefit the Hayground School and its rich and varied programs.  For tickets call 631-324-0806.

In late 1995, a group of parents, educators, and community members began meeting about a better way to educate our children.  This group included representatives from the Native-American, African-American, Latino and Euro-American communities on the East End of Long Island.  As a result of these meetings, Hayground School was born in September 1996.

The Mission of Hayground School is to provide an open community school where unproductive conventions are replaced by new ways of teaching and learning.  Hayground is truly committed to a program of innovation in a community of diversity, both economical and cultural.

With the recent development of the apprenticeship based program for older youth, the rich and varied programs that are taking place in the impressive new “Jeff’s Kitchen”, visiting artist programs, and inspiring math, reading, music, art and science opportunities, Hayground continues to remain true its mission.
