Text in the City Launches! Providing Insight into the Minds of Men
Relationship guru arms women with dating advice in daily emails
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2006 – Want to know what he really means when he says: Give me a call sometime? Sign up for Text in the City, a daily email and Web site that offers personal answers to women’s questions on dating and relationship etiquette. The idea comes from Matt Titus, a professional matchmaker and celebrity relationship expert, to help women tackle the dating game in metropolitan cities. Women can register to receive their free dose of advice at www.MyTextintheCity.com.
Using stylish illustrations that are accompanied by dating or relationship questions and answers, Text in the City delivers lighthearted, but honest insight into the male’s perspective on women and dating. On the Web site, users can find more advice in the following sections:
§ Where the Boys Are: Provides interesting and unconventional places to meet men such as Brookstone or the men’s designer department at Bloomingdale’s on Saturday afternoon.
§ He Kisses and Tells: Translates what men really think when they say the things they say.
§ The “It” Girl: Guides women on how to dress for relationship success.
§ Dating Diaries: Forum for women to share their own memorable dating experiences.
Matt Titus, the CEO of a matchmaking service called Matt’s Little Black Book, initially provided dating advice via text messaging to help his love-seeking clients before, during and after their dates. Matt found the answers to be so helpful to his clients, that it inspired him to recreate the scenario for all those seeking counsel. In the next few months Text in the City will incorporate the text messaging feature to provide 24/7 support for women who need it!
Matt works alongside his dating “textperts”, who add the female perspective to Text in the City. Women are often bombarded with conflicting messages about how to behave around men; Text in the City clears this confusion by supplying insight on men through its dating and relationships advice.
“So many women spend hours on end analyzing men’s words and actions,” says Matt. “I want to provide a forum for all women to have the opportunity to ask me any question without hesitation. I offer the point of view of the average man and, hopefully, clear up any ambiguity.”
Each daily email will be archived on the site and viewable the next day. Helpful content is now available for viewing at www.MyTextintheCity.com.

November 29, 2006 at 5:30pm — There will be a Memorial for Adrienne Shelly, who was murdered by an illegal alien on November 1, 2006 in front of the scene of the crime—15 Abingdon Square in Manhattan.
Adrienne Shelly was killed by Diego Pillco, an illegal alien who was not supposed to be in United States in the first place. If our country enforced its own immigration laws, Adrienne would be alive today.
There are currently approximately 12-20 million illegal aliens “hiding in plain sight” in the United States. Unfortunately, Adrienne is not the first victim of a violent crime committed by someone who should not have been in the United States to begin with. This is part of an all-too-common pattern of violent crimes, including stalking, physical assault, and yes, murder, committed by illegal aliens throughout the United States.
We are deeply sorry that Adrienne had to die as a casualty of our federal government’s failure to enforce immigration law. Our hearts go out to her family, her husband, Andrew, and her 3 year-old daughter who will grow up never knowing her Mother.
This Memorial is a NY ICE (New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement) tribute to Adrienne. For more information about NY ICE, please contact (917) 686.8695 or email progressrose@yahoo.com.

BIO:
WONDER MIKE AND MASTER GEE
Though the Sugarhill Gang inaugurated the history of recorded hip-hop with their single “Rapper’s Delight,” a multi-platinum seller and radio hit in 1979, the group was cooked up to cash in on a supposed novelty item. Music-industry producer and label-owner Sylvia Robinson had become aware of the massive hip-hop block parties occurring around the New York area during the late ’70s, so she gathered three local rappers (Master Gee, Wonder Mike, and Big Bank Hank) to record a single. Infectious and catchy, “Rapper’s Delight” borrowed the break from Chic’s “Good Times” and became a worldwide hit, eventually selling more than eight million copies. Most industry people figured rap for a short-lived trend, and though they were dead wrong, the Sugarhill Gang certainly didn’t carry the torch; despite several modest hits (”8th Wonder,” “Apache”) the trio faded quickly and was gone by the mid-’80s, only returning in 1999 with Jump on It, a rap album for children.

Make It a Bright and Energy Efficient Holiday Season with Energy Efficient LED Holiday Lights
To Keep the Season Bright, LIPA is Providing a $2 Rebate on the Purchase of LED Holiday Lights
Farmingdale, NY - November 14, 2006 -This New Year’s Eve, millions will watch the Times Square New Year’s Eve ball slide down the flagpole at midnight. However, this year the ball has changed. For the first time the Times Square Ball will not be lit exclusively by incandescent lights. Almost half of the ball’s lights will be replaced by bright, energy efficient light emitting diode (LED) lighting and plans are underway to make all of the ball’s lights LED’s for next year’s celebration.
Customers of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) won’t have to wait until next year to switch to LED holiday lights. As part of its ongoing commitment to encourage energy efficiency, LIPA is providing a $2 rebate to customers who purchase LED’s during the Holiday season. The rebate will be good on LED light purchases made between October 1st and December 31ST 2006.
LED is a technology whose time has come. LED’s have been around for years, but new technological advances have made them more energy efficient, brighter and available in a wide range of colors.
“Holiday lighting can be both beautiful and cost-effective,” said LIPA Chairman Richard M. Kessel. “Holiday lights may help bring joy to the season, but they can also bring added costs to electric bills. This year, save energy and money by purchasing energy-efficient LED strands for holiday decorations for homes or businesses.”
LIPA’s rebate program is part of LIPA’s Clean Energy Initiative (CEI). The CEI is a 10-year, $355-million commitment to promote clean, renewable electric generation technologies, energy conservation and efficiency.
LED Lights Keep the Holidays Bright at a Fraction of the Cost
LED’s are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. LED’s do not use glass or tungsten fibers. This means that LED’s are very lightweight and environmentally safe. LED’s also produce brighter light with virtually no heat and consume 50% to 70% less energy than conventional lighting. As an example, the energy cost of lighting 600 LED bulbs five hours per day for 30 days is approximately 56 cents. By comparison, the same number of incandescent bulbs utilized over the same amount of time would use almost $23.00 of electricity. LED lighting will save energy for years to come. LED’s can last between 50,000 and 100,000 hours, whereas conventional incandescent light bulbs have a lifespan of around 1,500 hours.
LED holiday lights are available in a wide range of styles and colors and can be purchased in strings from 50 to 250 bulbs. Up to 25 strings of LED lights can be strung together without overloading the typical household circuit.
Keep The Holidays Safe By Following These Safety Tips When Planning Holiday Lighting:
* Before stringing outdoor lights, check for overhead power lines. Don’t place yourself or any object in a position where you or it may come in contact with a power line-the result can be fatal
* If stringing lights on outdoor trees, make sure tree limbs haven’t grown into or near power lines. Branches or entire trees can become energized if they contact a power line.
* Make sure all lights you purchase contain the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) label, which means they meet UL safety requirements.
* While you’re reading labels, be sure you’re buying the right set–for indoor use, outdoor use, or both.
* Before installation, check for frayed wires, damaged sockets, or cracked insulation. If you find any defects, replace the entire set.
* All outdoor cords, plugs and sockets must be weatherproof. Keep electrical connections off the ground, and make sure wiring is kept clear of drainpipes and railings to prevent any risk of shock. Use a ground fault circuit interrupter on each circuit.
* Don’t overload your electrical circuits. Circuits in older homes carry a maximum of 1800 watts each. Most new homes can handle 2400 watts each.
* To determine how many watts you’re using, multiply the number of holiday bulbs by the number of watts per bulb. (If you’re not sure of the wattage, use 10 watts per bulb just to be safe!) When you’re calculating the total, don’t forget to include appliances, normal lighting, and other electrical equipment already running on the same circuit.
* Remember that hot bulbs can ignite dry tree branches. To avoid disaster, keep trees well watered and keep extension cords and light strings away from the water. For safety’s sake, light your tree only when you are at home and awake to enjoy it. As an extra precaution, keep a fire extinguisher handy, and be sure your home’s smoke detectors have new batteries and that they’re working properly.
* Turn Christmas lights off during the day or when you are away or when you are asleep. Timers are a simple way to do this and also are a safety measure since lights can cause fires if not used properly. For safety’s sake: Always unplug your lights before going to bed or leaving home.
* Protect little fingers: Make sure there’s a bulb in each socket. If a bulb is burned out, leave it in until you have a replacement.
* To prevent electrical shock, never use electric decorations on artificial trees with metallic needles, leaves, or branches. Instead, place colored spotlights above or beside the tree-never attached to it. Make sure artificial trees are flame retardant.
* Take the lights down after the holidays! No need to light up the night until spring!
* Use timers to limit holiday light displays to no more than six evening hours per day to curb energy use and costs, and to avoid having to remember to turn them on and off every day. Leaving lights on 24-hours a day will quadruple your energy costs - and create four times the pollution.
Energy Star: The gift that keeps on giving.
According to the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), by 2015, home electronics and small appliances will be responsible for more that 40% of all household electricity consumption. LIPA and the EPA encourage Long Islanders to make their next home electronics purchase one that has earned the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) (ENERGY STAR) rating for energy efficiency.
“Electronic appliances that have earned the (ENERGY STAR) rating are a gift everyone can feel good about because they have all the great popular features and they use less energy,” said Mr. Kessel. “By meeting strict energy efficiency standards set by the EPA, they are friendlier to the environment. Give the gift of a cleaner environment with (ENERGY STAR) rated electronic appliances, a gift that keeps on giving.”
To learn more about LIPA’s Clean Energy Initiative (CEI) and electric safety visit LIPA’s Web site at www.lipower.org or call 1-800-692-2626.
LIPA, anon-profit municipal electric utility, owns the retail electric system on Long Island and provides electric service to nearly 1.1 million customers in Nassau and Suffolk counties, and the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. LIPA does not own any on-island generation assets and does not provide natural gas service.

ABOUT RYAN STAR: (from RStar.net)
“I was always told that I need a story — a tale that makes people want to hear the music. My belief (although maybe illogical in this crazy business) is the opposite: to have songs that make people want to hear the story. So, I guess you can call this the epilogue to my songs …
It started 27 years ago. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, I have been writing and performing music longer than I have not. The early exposure to music mostly came from my parents who claim they were not hippies although they gave me the second name “Star.” The record collection I discovered in our home became my bible and education: The Doors, The Stones, Janis, Joni, The Who, Simon and Garfunkel, and countless other legends.
All this led me to my pubescent years of learning to play guitar to Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana. My big brother (the athlete) had a guitar that was collecting dust except for the occasional one string Def Leopard solo. One day I picked up the beautiful stringed instrument and instantly played songs by ear. The creative impulse overflowed as I recorded musical ideas on my “high-tech” 4-track cassette recorder. Music was now everywhere and everything to me.
When I was 14 years old I took a page out of Def Jam’s book and sold my records at school. When a classmate heard what I was doing, we started a band and I became the lead singer. This would be my life for the next 12 years. Throughout high school our band Stage played at famous New York City clubs such as CBGB’s and Mercury Lounge. (Despite our self-perceived star power, our parents always had to accompany us because we were underage.)
In college we continued with our musical pursuit even more seriously. After Stage built enough buzz to put us on par with The Strokes, Madonna signed us to a record deal with Maverick Records. I left school with no hesitation and headed for Los Angeles.
We toured the country a few times opening for top bands, but when we finally returned home to start our second album I decided it was time to move on to something different. I needed more from life and music. I parted with my band and best friends of ten years to take the leap and follow my heart. I couldn’t fight the reality that I feel most myself when the lights are out and it’s just me sitting at the piano or lying with my guitar.
The first page of my new journey was the first song “So Ordinary”:
I’m breaking out it’s a tidal wave of everything to come. I’m breaking out, so I’ll ride the wave and see what I become … Stop trying to be so ordinary. Be strong, be brave and begin your story. ‘Cause it’s all that you’ve got when you make it in this world …
The last few months brought me back home to where I learned about who I was and where my dreams were discovered. I’m not at a novice to the world of music, but for the first time in my memory I feel and sound brand new. And although I’m much different now, my dreams are still the same”.
ABOUT GINA CUTILLO:
Gina Cutillo os one of Long Island’s Best Female Vocalists. Recently she became a finalist on NBC’s Star Tomorrow; Gina was sent to LA by David Foster (Whitney Houston, Madonna) to perform on national TV and ended up being awarded the Best Orignal Song at The Star Tomorrow Afterparty. Gina and her band are now back touring the US with her passionate sexy edged Pop/Rock sound and energetic performances. Learn more about Gina by going to www.ginacutillo.com - myspace.com/ginacutillo
ABOUT JESSE KINCH:
He’s all of 12 years old, but one wouldn’t know it as you watch this young Long Island New York rocker command the stage. With the influences of Hendrix, Vernon Reid, Eric Clapton and Angus Young, Jesse is one of a new generation of young talent attempting to bring rock and roll back to it’s glory days. As early as 4 years old, Jesse began showing interest in musical performances that his parents would watch at home. He would attempt to duplicate drum solos and vocal performances of great rock bands and singers. His rhythm was extraordinary at this young age. At age 6, he spotted an old acoustic guitar in the family basement and almost immediately amazing things started to happen. Introduced to some basic guitar chords and some Hendrix videos, Jesse began to master some classic rock tunes. He shocked his family by tuning his guitar by ear. Music teachers were brought to his home and some considered him a prodigy and suggested that formal music training might stifle him at such a young age. Things were kept “light” and music teachers were brought in just to help him learn songs that interested him. At age 7, he performed for the first time on stage with an adult rock band playing “Last Time” by the Rolling Stones. At 8 years old, he was featured on News 12 Long Island and began appearing in local rock clubs. A local publication dubbed him “the boy wonder.” At 9 years old, he stepped onto the stage of The Downtown rock club in Farmingdale New York and stunned the crowd with his performance of ” Welcome to the Jungle” and “Crazy Train”. At 10 years old, Jesse was invited to the Sam Ash Guitar Competition. He competed with players 2 to 4 times his age. Playing a 5 minute medley of some of rock’s greatest songs, he placed in the top three, but received the first place vote of a master guitar performer. He is currently performing at some of New York City’s biggest clubs. He has received rave reviews. Members of Jesse’s band now include legendary players, Randy Coven on bass guitar and John Macaluso on drums and brother Rick on keyboards. Jesse is writing originals now, and in the very near future, will be at work in a N.Y. recording studio developing his own style and music.
