Two Manhasset, NY Residents Win Prestigious Business Plan Competition
Chris Mirabile & Andrew Savino of Manhasset, NY along with partners Gianni Martire & Jamie Briones become the first undergraduates ever to win NYU Stern’s Business Plan Competition
Manhasset, NY (May 14, 2007) – Chris Mirabile and Andrew Savino of Manhasset, NY along with partners Gianni Martire of New Jersey and Jamie Briones of California become the first undergraduate sever to win NYU Stern Business School’s coveted Business Plan Competition, now in its eighth year. The team competed against 100 other entrepreneurs, most of whom were MBAs, as well as PhDs and MDs. The group was awarded for their new virtual social networking website, www.CollegeHotList.com.
“Winning the competition not only affirms that we are creating something special, but also inspires us to continue to strive towards making the site an integral part of college students’ everyday lives,” remarks Savino. CollegeHotList.com is a college-exclusive social networking website that keeps students throughout the U.S. in the know about the hottest places (restaurants, bars, cafes, etc.), events, products, videos and more all based on feedback by other college students. According to Mirabile, “CollegeHotList’s most distinguishing characteristic is its breadth of unique and powerful features that facilitate the social decision making processes that college students encounter on a daily basis.”
Mirabile, Savino and the rest of the team will split the competition’s $50,000 grand prize with Iconology Inc., a networking website for comic book collectors and fans. Additionally, CollegeHotList.com will receive pro-bono services from prominent legal and consulting firms for winning the Audience Choice Award. This award is given to the team that receives the most votes by audience members attending the final round of presentations.
