THERESA KIERNAN TO LAUNCH CAMPAIGN FOR RECEIVER OF TAXES WITH A FESTIVE BARBEQUE ON THURSDAY, JULY 26, IN SOUTHAMPTON
SOUTHAMPTON, NY, July 17, 2007 – - Theresa Kiernan, who was appointed Deputy Tax Receiver of the Town of Southampton early this year, will kick off her election campaign to serve as the Town’s full-time Receiver of Taxes at a gala fundraising barbeque on Thursday, July 26, 2007, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the home of Ann LaWall, 5 Seven Ponds Road in Southampton.
The position of Receiver of Taxes carries a four-year term, with Election Day 2007 falling on Tuesday, November 6. The Town of Southampton is comprised of seven incorporated villages: Sag Harbor, North Haven, Quogue, Westhampton Beach, West Hampton Dunes, Southampton and Sagaponack.

About Terri Kiernan
A cum laude graduate of Providence College with a BS degree in finance, Kiernan went on to earn her MBA in finance from Fordham University in 1998. Prior to her current position, Kiernan served as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in their Southampton branch. She began her business career by spending several years with the Bank of New York as VP of Private Banking in New York City, and then was recruited by the Suffolk County National Bank in Southampton, where she also served as their VP of Private Banking.
According to Kiernan, a resident of Southampton: “I am confident that my experience working in the office of the Receiver of Taxes, combined with my long-time commitment to and knowledge of the Town, my expertise at handling and investing money for banks’ major customers and my vast educational background makes me the most realistic and legitimate candidate for this position. This barbeque is my way to get to meet as many of the citizens and constituents as possible in a casual, fun and festive atmosphere.â€
An active member of her community, Kiernan, who is running for her first elective office, holds positions in the Southampton Rotary Club and the Water Mill Community Club, as well as doing volunteer work for the American Heart Association.
