SAND, SURF, AND THE SPECIAL SAUCE: SURFRIDER FOUNDATION’S ANNUAL PASTA JAM

Babylon, New York: September 23, 2007- Surfrider Foundation’s Central Long Island Chapter, in conjunction with the American Littoral Society’s 22 nd Annual International Coastal Cleanup, will be hosting their Annual Pasta Jam at Cedar Beach in Babylon on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at 1 p.m.

The Surfrider Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans and beaches through activism, research, and education. Surfrider’s Central Long Island Chapter fulfills this mission through beach cleanups, public and educational outreaches, fundraisers, and public speakers. 

Surfrider’s annual Pasta Jam is an excellent way to reach out to the environment. Past cleanups have proven to be extremely beneficial, collecting hundreds of pounds of garbage which would otherwise pollute Long Island’s beaches and waters. According to Randy Union, Chairman of Surfrider CLI, “This is a fun and educational day complete with trash collection and documentation, music, surf videos, and crafts.”  The Pasta Jam will also allow you to showcase your family’s famous tomato sauce recipe, if you do so desire, as well as sample the sauces of others. We will provide the pasta, you bring the sauce.

Bring the family for a wonderful day of sun, surf, shoreline conservation, and live music. Leave with a sense of fulfillment and a stomach full of pasta. The cleanup will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the pavilion activities begin at 2 p.m. Rain or shine!
