Judges Needed For Fall and Spring High School Plays

Riverhead, NY (September 27, 2007)—The judging committee of the Teeny Awards, a student theatre arts recognition program of the East End Arts Council (EEAC), in collaboration with the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC), is seeking qualified volunteers.

“We need people who are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and willing to attend at least three high school productions in the fall and three in the spring,” said Toni Munna, Teeny Awards Coordinator. “This is an enormously rewarding opportunity for people with a theatre background to take an active role in making a difference for students in high school theatre.”

Applications are being accepted for volunteer judges. Selection is based on experience and knowledge of theatre. Judges anonymously attend high school productions throughout the academic year and adjudicate students with the use of an evaluation tool based on the academic rubric. Orientation is provided. All judges are invited to the gala awards ceremony in June.

Applications for judges may be obtained by calling the EEAC at 631-727-0900 or stopping by at 133 East Main Street, Riverhead.
