East End Arts Council Fall Art Classes
Riverhead, NY (October 5, 2007) –The East End Arts Council Community School of the Arts pleased to offer classes in oil painting on Wednesdays from 5- 7PM beginning November 7th. Students will be introduced to techniques and tools of the oil painter and will complete a seascape and a landscape by the end of the six-week session.
The School also offers a workshop in the timeless art of bookbinding, where participants will create three books using various binding techniques. Finished books are perfect for journals, collaging and scrap-booking. The class will be held Saturday, November 17th, from 1 – 4:00 PM.
Or, artists might try classes in the ancient medium of encaustic painting, which was used by Greek artists as long ago as the 5th century BC and by the ancient Egyptians in creating Fayum mummy portraits. This technique utilizes molten wax to achieve a lustrous enamel appearance. Instruction will include historical background, demonstration and guidance in the process to complete a painting.
