East End Arts Council Members Richard Mizdal and Neil Scholl Open at Rosalie Dimon Gallery

Riverhead, NY – A collection of Richard Mizdal’s paintings and Neil Scholl’s photographs will be on display in the Rosalie Dimon Gallery at the Jamesport Manor Inn on Manor Lane in Jamesport from November 8 through February 5, 2008. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, December 2nd from 3-5PM. The public is invited.

Richard Mizdal is best known for his combination of interior and exterior, with gardens, skies or water views presented through a window format that permits a scaffolding of architectural elements.  His work has been highly acclaimed from Dan’s Papers (on the cover of which his art has appeared several times) to the New York Times. Henry Berg of the Guggenheim wrote, “Mizdal’s paintings explore the structure of light and matter with an ever-evolving subtlety and sophistication revealing not only a mature grasp of the techniques of master painting, but a vision and understanding of nature that is truly remarkable today.”

Neil Scholl’s beautiful photographs are a celebration of Riverhead and the farm country that recalls his childhood. He reminds us that despite the ever-burgeoning housing developments, Suffolk is still the largest agricultural county in New York State. But the times are changing and some of the beautiful photos in this exhibit have already lost their subject matter to “progress.”

Sales of artwork will be made through the East End Arts Council. Rosalie Dimon Gallery shows are a joint effort of the East End Arts Council and the Jamesport Manor Inn.  EEAC exhibits are made possible with support from the New York State Council on the Arts, Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs and the Town of Riverhead.
