LONG ISLAND PRESS RELEASES

For Immediate Release: February 25, 2008

   Atlantis Marine World: Attempting Everest

Atlantis Marine World Officer To Climb Mount Everest.

Atlantis Marine World is sponsoring its Chief Operations Officer, Bob Pospischil, on his summit of Mount Everest. The 59-year-old Nesconset resident and former US Marine Fighter Pilot and Top Gun Instructor will be gone for nine weeks as he leaves Long Island to climb Mt. Everest.

“I have been interested in climbing for many years and three years ago, I finally stepped off the edge and just did it,” explains Pospischil. “What makes this climb especially thrilling is that, through all my research, it appears I am the first Long Islander to attempt the climb!”

In 2005, Pospischil reached the summit of Mt. Rainer, in Washington state. This was followed by climbs of Mt. Cayambe (South America), Mt. Cotopaxi (South America), Mt. Elbrus (Europe), Mt. Aconcagua (South America), and Mt. Cho Oyu (Himalayas). These experiences, in addition to a vigorous training schedule, have now prepared him for the ultimate challenge, the  Mt. Everest expedition.

“I believe that my age has nothing to do with my abilities,” Pospischil says. “With this expedition to Mt. Everest, I hope to show people that no obstacle can keep them from realizing their own goals.”

Pospischil is hoping that his attempt will also help others. He is working with the Islandia-based Contractors for Kids non-profit to raise awareness and money for its mission, which is to assist children and their families overcome obstacles that have impacted their lives through sickness, injury, or death.

Starting March 27, people can visit http://www.rmiguides.com/himalaya/everest-trek.html and follow Pospischil’s daily journey in photos as he summits Mt. Everest.
