Teeny Awards Winner Signs with Pro Touring Company

Westhampton Beach, NY Graduate to Tour Asia

Riverhead, NY (February 21, 2008)—Madeline Fallier, a multiple Teeny Award winner, has been cast as Liesl in Troika Entertainment Company’s Asian tour of The Sound of Music. The nine-month tour will be traveling throughout China, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines.

A multiple Teeny nominee in 2003 and 2004, Ms. Fallier won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy in 2003, for her role as Catherine Simms in The Foreigner. In her senior year, she won Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her role as Lilli in Kiss Me Kate. Ms. Fallier was graduated from Westhampton Beach High School in Westhampton Beach, New York, in 2004.
Ms. Fallier, a native of East Moriches, New York is currently a senior at New York University’s Steinhardt School and is working on her degree in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater. While at NYU, she appeared in 110 in the Shade as Snookie Updergraff, The Laramie Project, and The Golden Apple. She recently completed her senior recital and will continue her degree in the spring semester of 2009.

“This is the kind of outcome we envisioned from the beginning,” said Patricia Snyder, Executive Director of the EEAC. “We have always dreamed of a day when a student recognized by the Teeny Awards would stand at the podium at the Tony Awards and accept an acting honor.”

The Teeny Awards, the ground-breaking student theatre arts recognition program of the East End Arts Council (EEAC) in collaboration with the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, will celebrate its sixth anniversary on Sunday, June 8, 2008. The Tony Awards-style festivities start at 4 pm.

The Teeny Awards are presented to students to recognize their outstanding achievement in various areas of the theatre arts. Schools under the jurisdiction of the East End Arts Council are eligible and are invited by the committee in the fall. Participating high schools this year include Center Moriches, East Hampton, Eastport-South Manor, Greenport, Hampton Bays, Mattituck, Pierson in Sag Harbor, Riverhead and Mercy-McGann in Riverhead, Ross School in East Hampton, Shelter Island, Shoreham-Wading River, Southampton, Southold, and Westhampton Beach.

Current sponsors include Target Stores, Bridgehampton National Bank, Joseph & Mary Ann Martorano, Mary Tiedemann, Tanger Outlet Center, Riverhead Building Supply, Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre, Astoria Federal Savings Bank, Hudson City Savings Bank, Riverhead Rotary, Dr. Joseph Duva, Linda Dieterich, Esq., The Open Book, and Washwick Agency.
