The Caring Coral Curator
Atlantis Marine World Aquarium to Donate Corals to Georgia Aquarium
 Â
Atlantis Marine World Aquarium is donating more than 100 pieces of propagated corals to Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta). Atlantis Marine World’s Curator and Co-Founder, Joseph Yaiullo, is hand-delivering the pieces and helping setting up the display.
  Â
“I have been working with corals for over 20 years,†explains Yaiullo. “Back then, it was a challenge just to keep them alive; now, I take great pleasure in growing and sharing a wide variety of corals with Aquarists and Aquariums around the world.â€
  Â
Georgia Aquarium reached out to Yaiullo to consult on their exhibit during its planning stages. Now, Yaiullo will dive into Atlantis Marine World’s own tank, which is the largest all-living coral display in this hemisphere, and frag corals which will then be shipped to Georgia Aquarium. Yaiullo will then follow the corals to Atlanta, where they will first be placed into their quarantine system for acclimation. This acclimation period will last about 30 days. Yaiullo will then travel back to Georgia Aquarium to help place the coral pieces into the exhibit.
  Â
Since Atlantis Marine World Aquarium’s opening in 2000, Yaiullo has shared his extensive knowledge of corals, as well as his surplus of the living pieces, more than 20 times to a variety of Aquariums around the world.
