BE A TRAINER FOR A DAY!
Interactive Program Goes Behind the Scenes with Mammal Trainers.
Learn what it really takes to be a trainer at Atlantis Marine World! The Aquarium’s Trainer for a Day program invites children over 10 years of age to don their rubber boots and shadow its Marine Mammal Staff on a Saturday from April through September to see what it’s really like to care for marine mammals.
During the nearly two-hour session, “Trainers for a Day” assist the Marine Mammal Staff with their daily routines including food preparation and participation in a harbor seal training session. They are also provided reserved seating at our Sea Lion Show, with this behind-the-scenes opportunity concluded with the once-in-a-lifetime experience of getting a kiss from a seal.
Participants also receive a free Atlantis Marine World t-shirt, certificate of completion, commemorative seal kiss photo, and Aquarium Admission for that day.

About Atlantis Marine World Aquarium
Atlantis Marine World (AMW) opened in Riverhead, NY on June 15, 2000, as the first large-scale Aquarium to open in New York State in more than 35 years. Themed around the “Lost City of Atlantis,” AMW blends science and nature with myth, inviting visitors to explore its inhabitants while discovering the Lost City. Today, nearly two million people have visited the Aquarium, enjoying its interactive exhibits. AMW is also the home of The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, New York’s only authorized marine mammal and sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation center.
