Dowling College and GEAR UP Offer Free Conference for Parents Wyandanch Community to Experience Day of Learning and Fun
(Oakdale, N.Y.) Dowling College and The GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) partnership are sponsoring a free conference on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Wyandanch Memorial High School. Dr. Clyde Payne, Dean of the School of Education at Dowling College, will be the keynote speaker for this premiere event. This parent conference has been made possible through the support of FidelisCare.
The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served. Vendors and exhibitors will be present and child care will be available. A “poetry slam” will showcase the creative talents of Wyandanch students. Door prizes will also be offered to participants.
Parents from Wyandanch and surrounding communities are invited to experience a day of learning and fun where they will be recognized for the heroic efforts they are making every day to raise their children to be healthy, successful adults in today’s complex world.
