Ms. Stephanie Tracy will be opening a new exhibition titled “Blue to Global Warming” at the Amelie A. Wallace Gallery in SUNY College at Old Westbury’s Campus Center on May 12, 2008/ Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 12-4pm, plus Saturday and Sunday by appointment. The opening reception is Monday May 12th from 4-8pm.
As a native Long Islander, Ms. Stephanie Tracy has been working in the field of photography since 1993. Whether on location or in the studio, she is always observing design, texture, color and the emotions that surround her. She has photographed weddings as far away as The Breakers Hotel in Florida, and has been the still photographer on independent films shot in New York City. Ms. Tracy studied photography at Nassau Community College, film at Maine Media Workshops, and she is presently completing her baccalaureate degree in Elementary Special Education at SUNY Old Westbury on Long Island.
In this current exhibition, Ms. Tracy has created a work of photographs reflecting her passion for the environment. “I am trying to gently open up a person’s mind on how he/she is connected to global warming through the use of beautiful photographs. When people are conscious of their impact, then they might take ownership of their part of the equation.” She has mixed together images of factors that cause global warming and some lesser-known by-products of it. In captions below the mesmerizing images, Ms. Tracy entwines poetry with research data. This approach raises questions rather than pounding previously known facts about global warming in our faces.
12 Noon-4pm Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday by appt.
