Artist Self Portrait Exhibition at the Mills Pond House Gallery August 16-September 22, 2008
(Smithtown, N.Y.) The Smithtown Township Arts Council presents Introspections, a juried self-portrait exhibition focused on the image of the artists themselves. The exhibit will be on view at the Mills Pond House Gallery in St. James, August 16-September 22, 2008. The public is invited to an opening reception to be held Saturday, August 16 from 2-4 pm. to meet exhibiting artists and view their work.
Introspections will feature work that explores various modes of representing the self, including a wide variety of artistic media, techniques and styles. Work will be chosen by juror Amy Mackie, assistant curator at the famous New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City. Located in the Bowery section of Manhattan, The New Museum is a home for contemporary art and an incubator for new ideas. Ms. Mackie works to develop and produce exhibitions devoted to contemporary art practices. She has also served as a visiting critic for Parsons The New School for Design, guest lecturer for Bard College, and lecturer for Art in General, New York.
