This Halloween season, The Smithtown Township Arts Council is sponsoring its highly haunted but popular House of Horrors October 4 – October 31, 2008. On the Mills Pond House grounds, venture through more than 3600 square feet of darkened rooms, claustrophobic hallways, and pitch black chambers. Experience the effects of bone chilling animatronics, awesome special effects and ghoulish actors lurking in the shadows of your mind. Take the haunted trail where wicked things go bump in the night! The House of Horrors is part of The Fool Moon Festival, a month long celebration of Halloween Lore. At The Mills Pond House Gallery will be Midnight Oils, an exhibition celebrating frightening subject matters cast in a philosophic, romantic, or humorous light. Juror Alain K. Khadem will be hosting Omnia Vanitas, a flash presentation focusing on the significance of iconic objects and symbols in Vanitas art, and there will be a Ghoulish Gala, a costume contest (details and date to be announced soon).

All proceeds from the festival go to support St. James Fire Dept. Ambulance Co., and to the Smithtown Township Arts Council and its wide range of music and art programs, creative enrichment for both children and adults.
